A CITY TO GET TO KNOW / SHANGHAI 上海
Shanghai 上海
Take the smaller street.
Temple courtyards. Lane life. The city across the river.
I bring the Shanghai 上海 artwork together as a city journey, grouping the places by neighborhood and leaving room for meals, small streets and time beside the Huangpu.
Explore the tripTHE IDEA BEHIND THE JOURNEY
Get to know the city between the landmarks.
The collection moves from Jing’an and Zhangyuan to Yu Garden, the Bund, Pudong and Tianzifang. I use those different settings to give the city more than one perspective.
The day sequence is a new web sample based on the artwork. It can be shortened, extended or reordered around arrival times, attraction calendars and the traveler’s interests.
A suggested web itinerary based on the existing Shanghai 上海 artwork. Dates, flights, the hotel and reservations are unconfirmed.
IN TRAVEL ORDER
One city. Different neighborhoods.
Jing’an and Zhangyuan → Yu Garden and the Bund → Pudong → Tianzifang.

Four city days, including a flexible arrival day, with four nights and departure on Day 5. An early or late flight may change the shape.
Arrive / Jing’an & Zhangyuan
Let the city introduce itself.
I keep arrival plans flexible. If the flight timing allows, a Jing’an-area walk and Zhangyuan’s lanes make an introduction to the city; otherwise, move the temple visit into a later day.
I would choose a hotel neighborhood first, then plan the walk and meals around it. There is no timed attraction appointment attached to the arrival.
Yu Garden & the Bund
Courtyards in the morning. River light later.
Explore Yu Garden and the surrounding old-city area, with time for a meal rather than rushing through to another district. I would check the garden’s current calendar before reserving the visit.
Later, walk along the Bund and look across the Huangpu toward Pudong. The older riverfront buildings and the modern skyline give the day two very different architectural settings.
Pudong / Lujiazui
Cross the river for another view.
Give Pudong its own time. I would choose an observation experience around the traveler’s preferences and the visibility, then allow a riverfront walk and a meal.
Shanghai 上海 Tower and the Oriental Pearl are options in the artwork. I would choose the experience rather than book both simply to collect viewpoints.
Tianzifang & a last city meal
Find a lane worth turning into.
Tianzifang offers a different scale of city exploration, with lanes, shops and places to pause. I would leave room for browsing and a final meal, keeping the afternoon flexible.
I know from living abroad how rewarding the smaller everyday places can be. This day is about following an interest without another fixed landmark deadline.
Shanghai 上海 departure
Make the airport connection clear.
I would confirm the correct airport, terminal and transfer against the booked flight. Shanghai’s airports are distinct destinations; the final itinerary needs the right address and an appropriate time buffer.
A CLOSER LOOK
Two sides of Shanghai’s architecture.
Zhangyuan’s lane setting, Yu Garden’s courtyards and the Bund’s riverfront offer different ways into the city’s history. I would use a guide when the traveler wants more architectural context.
The Pudong skyline belongs in the same story, across the river. These illustrations help picture the contrast; the actual visits are chosen around opening arrangements and the day’s visibility.
A CLOSER LOOK
Order a little. Discover a favorite.
Xiaolongbao, scallion noodles and a shared Shanghai 上海 meal give the food chapter three different starting points. I would choose places around the route and the traveler’s dietary needs.
A food-focused walk can add useful context, from how to order to why a dish belongs to the neighborhood. I would allow time to sit and eat, rather than make every meal another transfer.
A CLOSER LOOK
A base beside the river, or somewhere else.
Fairmont Peace Hotel is the stay pictured in the campaign. Its Bund location makes it a possible base for the riverfront chapter. I would compare room choice, availability, location and budget before recommending the final stay.
The Metro can connect different parts of the city, with local walking and taxis where useful. I would save the hotel address and meeting points in the form the traveler can use on the ground.
THE WORK BEHIND THE JOURNEY
The groundwork.
Group nearby visits
I keep the older city and Bund together, Pudong on its own day and Tianzifang with a flexible final afternoon. Actual traffic and entry slots decide the detailed timing.
Apps, payments and addresses
Before departure, I would help the traveler prepare the practical tools and accepted payment methods for their arrangements. Save hotel and meeting-point details offline as well as in a phone itinerary.
The right level of guiding
An architecture walk, a food introduction and everyday city exploration call for different kinds of support. I would compare guide options around the traveler’s interests.
Arrival and departure
Flight dates and airport choice are still open. I would confirm the transport and the first and last nights before fixing the city visits.
