NATHAN MURRAYTRAVELS — BEYOND THE RESORT

NATHAN MURRAY TRAVELS / THE PROCESS

HOW I
WORK.

Your journey,
thoughtfully planned.

I bring your interests, the place and the practical details together. We start with a conversation, shape the journey around you, then work through the arrangements that make it happen.

FIVE STAGES. ONE JOURNEY, BUILT AROUND YOU.

01 START WITH A CONVERSATION

Complimentary
consultation.

A good plan starts with understanding the people taking the trip.

We talk about your interests, budget, travel style and what you want from the experience. I want to know what excites you, what pace feels right, and what has worked well on previous trips.

You can arrive with a destination and a rough itinerary, or simply a feeling: more time outside, a city you want to understand, food worth traveling for, or a few days together somewhere new.

What we work through

  • Who is traveling, and how the group likes to spend a day.
  • Your dates or travel window, budget range and priorities.
  • Comfort, pace, practical needs and the things you want to leave room for.

What takes shape

A clear trip brief, an understanding of the work involved and the next steps. We agree on the scope before detailed planning begins.

02 EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES

Research
& planning.

I research destinations, stays and experiences, then shape a route around you.

I compare the options in context: the neighborhood as well as the hotel, the room arrangement as well as the rate, and the whole travel day as well as the advertised journey time.

I look at how arrival points, overnight stops, transport and activities fit together. The aim is a trip with a sensible rhythm—enough structure to work smoothly and enough room to enjoy being there.

The groundwork

  • Places to stay, neighborhoods, room types and the fit for your group.
  • Arrival airports, onward travel, transfers and realistic time between stops.
  • Local food, guides, experiences, opening days and reservations worth planning around.

Local knowledge

Where useful, I work with guides, drivers and destination management companies—local teams that coordinate experiences and ground arrangements. Their expertise helps connect the plan with the place.

03 SEE YOUR TRIP TAKE SHAPE

Your itinerary,
brought to life.

You can see where you’re going, how the days connect and why the choices fit.

I bring the route, stays and experiences into a tailored itinerary. We look at the travel days, the time in each place, the activities that need advance arrangements and the moments best left open.

Personalized visuals help you picture the journey. When an illustrated guide is part of our project, we also decide what will be useful in a book, a phone edition or a web companion: maps, food, language, local context and the details worth carrying.

A plan you can understand

  • Overnight locations, the sequence of the trip and the connections between them.
  • Included arrangements, optional experiences and items still to be confirmed.
  • Space to discuss alternatives and refine the balance before booking.

Your part in it

Tell me what feels right, what needs adjusting and where your priorities have changed. We use that feedback to shape the version you’re ready to approve.

04 LEAVE THE DETAILS TO ME

Your bookings,
brought together.

Once you approve the plan, I coordinate the agreed bookings and organize the details.

I work through the reservations with the relevant hotels, local partners and transport providers. Where something is booked directly with a supplier, I make the handoff clear so you know who is handling it.

Before you commit, we review the quoted arrangements, payment deadlines and key supplier terms. Confirmed reservations are kept distinct from proposals, requests and anything still awaiting a response.

The details I check

  • Traveler names, dates, arrival points and the correct hotel locations.
  • Check-in and check-out dates, room arrangements and the connections between bookings.
  • Transfer meeting points, luggage considerations, confirmations and supplier contacts.

What you receive

An organized record of the agreed arrangements: what is booked, where you need to be, what happens next and who to contact.

05 TRAVEL WITH SUPPORT

A point of contact,
along the way.

I remain your point of contact for questions and help coordinating changes.

Before you leave, we work through the details that make arrival and the first few days easier: meeting points, useful contacts, what needs reconfirming and the practical information to keep close.

During the trip, I can help with questions about the plan and coordinate with the relevant suppliers when arrangements need attention. Your travel notes also identify local and supplier contacts, so you know who is handling each part of the journey.

Before departure

  • A review of the agreed arrangements and outstanding confirmations.
  • Useful destination context, packing considerations and document checks to complete.
  • Clear contact details and an agreed way to reach the people supporting the trip.

When you’re home

I want to hear what worked, what surprised you and what you would do differently. That experience becomes useful context for the next journey we plan together.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

Before
we begin.

Do I need to know where I want to go?

No. A travel window, an interest or a sense of the experience you want is a useful starting point. We can explore possible directions during the first conversation.

Can I bring a trip I’ve already started planning?

Yes. Tell me what is already booked, what is still an idea and where you want help. We can agree on the parts of the journey you would like me to work on.

What happens before anything is booked?

We review the proposed arrangements, quoted costs and the key supplier terms available for your choices. You approve the relevant arrangements before I proceed with those bookings.

Is an illustrated guide included with every trip?

We decide what is useful for your journey and agree on the scope. An illustrated book, phone edition or web companion can be part of the project; the format and level of detail depend on what we plan together.

THE FIRST STEP IS SIMPLE

Tell me what
you have in mind.

A place, a few dates, a reason to get away.
We’ll start there.
