CHENGDU 成都, LESHAN 乐山 & MOUNT EMEI

Sichuan 四川
Come hungry. Stay curious.

Tea in the city. Temples in the forest. A mountain chapter.

I use Chengdu 成都 as the introduction, then connect Leshan 乐山 and Mount Emei for a first Sichuan 四川 journey that has room to slow down.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE JOURNEY

Start with a coherent route.

The campaign brings together Sichuan’s city life, food and mountain landscapes. Its core itinerary stays with Chengdu 成都, Leshan 乐山 and Mount Emei.

Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan 都江堰 and the Bamboo Sea are possibilities for a longer journey. I show them as extensions, so the first week keeps a workable shape.

A suggested itinerary, with dates, transport, hotels and activity reservations still to be arranged. The seventh exploring day includes a Chengdu 成都 overnight; departure is Day 8.

Seven days exploring Sichuan 四川
DAY01

Arrive Chengdu 成都

Start with an easy evening.

I would arrange the airport arrival around the actual flight, settle into the hotel and keep the first meal simple. A short local walk is optional; the main sightseeing comes after a night’s rest.

STAY · Chengdu 成都 / night 1
DAY02

Chengdu 成都

Lanes, tea and everyday city life.

I would give the day to Chengdu’s neighborhoods and tea culture, using a local guide where context adds depth. A market or lane walk, a teahouse pause and a good meal offer a gentle introduction to the city.

STAY · Chengdu 成都 / night 2
DAY03

Chengdu 成都

Pandas in the morning. Sichuan 四川 flavors by night.

I would arrange the panda visit around the venue’s current entry system and choose the rest of the day to suit the group. The evening can introduce a few Sichuan 四川 dishes, with heat levels and dietary needs discussed before ordering.

STAY · Chengdu 成都 / night 3
DAY04

Chengdu 成都 → Leshan 乐山 → Emeishan 峨眉山

Follow the river to the mountain.

Visit the Leshan 乐山 Giant Buddha, then continue to the Emeishan 峨眉山 base. I would choose the viewing approach around the group’s mobility and the current access arrangements, rather than promise every viewpoint.

The Leshan 乐山 Buddha and Mount Emei form a UNESCO-listed cultural and natural landscape. The mountain visit has its own days after the transfer.

STAY · Emeishan 峨眉山 / night 4
DAY05

Mount Emei

Temples among the forest.

I would begin with forest paths and temple visits suited to the travelers, coordinating local transport and the day’s walking. Mount Emei combines an important Buddhist heritage with a landscape that changes with elevation.

STAY · Emeishan 峨眉山 / night 5
Mount Emei — forest trails and temples
DAY06

Mount Emei

A mountain day shaped by conditions.

The second mountain day leaves room for a summit-area outing if conditions and the group’s interests support it. I would confirm transport, weather, access and walking demands locally, keeping a lower-level alternative ready.

STAY · Emeishan 峨眉山 / night 6
DAY07

Emeishan 峨眉山 → Chengdu 成都

Return for one last city evening.

Return to Chengdu 成都 and leave time for a final meal, shopping or a teahouse pause. The original itinerary ends this day in the city; I keep the onward flight for the following day.

STAY · Chengdu 成都 / night 7
DAY08

Chengdu 成都 departure

Leave room for the airport.

Transfer to the airport selected for the booked flight, allowing time for the route, terminal and check-in. The exact departure arrangements follow the airline schedule.

DEPARTURE

A CLOSER LOOK

A cuisine to get to know.

Hot pot is a shared meal as much as a dish: a good chance to slow down together. I would agree on the broth and heat level before ordering.

Mapo tofu and dan dan noodles offer two more introductions. Sichuan 四川 food has a range of flavors; I would build the meals around the traveler’s interests rather than make every plate a heat challenge.

A CLOSER LOOK

A longer landscape chapter.

Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong deserve a separately planned northern extension with their own transport and stays. I would work through access, altitude and the amount of walking before deciding how they fit.

The Bamboo Sea is a different direction and a different landscape. It belongs in an extension designed for that region, with adequate travel time.

Huanglong — a highland extension
The Sichuan 四川 Bamboo Sea — a separate extension

A CLOSER LOOK

Water, forest and living heritage.

Dujiangyan’s irrigation system and Mount Qingcheng are another paired cultural landscape. UNESCO describes the long-working water system and Qingcheng’s Taoist heritage.

I would give these visits their own day or overnight extension from Chengdu 成都, rather than add them to a day already committed to Leshan 乐山 or the Emei transfer.

THE WORK BEHIND THE JOURNEY

The groundwork.

The city and mountain transfers

I would compare rail and private transport for the actual dates, including the connection from each station to the hotel or visitor entrance. A rail journey and the final local transfer are separate parts of the day.

Mountain days

The elevation, steps and changing conditions need to fit the group. I would confirm the route and available transport with a local team, allowing a less demanding alternative.

Entry and reservations

The traveler’s documents, attraction booking rules and airport choice should be checked before reservations are made. I would provide the confirmed meeting points and current access instructions with the final itinerary.

Hotels and local support

No hotel is assigned in this sample. I would select city and mountain bases around comfort, access and budget, then compare suitable local guides and transport partners.
