ARGENTINA & CHILE / THREE COUPLES

Southern Cone Expedition
In good company.

Vineyards beneath the Andes. Glacier days. A final toast in Santiago.

I shaped this proposed Argentina and Chile journey around six friends, three rooms and the pleasures of traveling together: good meals, wine country and proper time outdoors.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE JOURNEY

Give the distances the time they deserve.

The route connects Buenos Aires, the Uco Valley, El Calafate, Torres del Paine and Santiago. Flights cover the big distances, with local transfers and guiding arranged around each stay.

Four-night Patagonian stays give the outdoor days some flexibility. I keep the group’s privacy preferences explicit, from room categories to the difference between a shared cruise and a private charter.

A proposed February–March itinerary; year, dates, rooms, flights and services remain to be confirmed. This collaboration covers Argentina and Chile.

Mendoza & the Uco Valley

Fly to Mendoza; private transfer to the Uco Valley.

Fly to Mendoza; private transfer to the Uco Valley. Check into Casa de Uco and enjoy the vineyard setting.

I would confirm the flight and ground transfer together. The Uco Valley is the destination for this stay; Mendoza airport is the gateway, rather than the vineyard hotel itself.

DAY08

El Calafate

Travel to El Calafate.

Travel to El Calafate. Keep the whole day clear: the flight may require a connection. Private transfer to EOLO.

I keep this a travel day until the airline schedule is fixed. A connection may be required, so there is no glacier booking attached to the arrival afternoon.

STAY · EOLO

DAY09

El Calafate

Perito Moreno viewpoints and walkways with a private guide.

El Calafate — time at the glaciers
DAY10

El Calafate

Lago Argentino glacier navigation.

Lago Argentino glacier navigation. Choose a shared premium service or separately quoted private charter according to the privacy brief.

A premium cabin on a shared boat remains a shared excursion. If the group wants an exclusive vessel, I would request a separate charter quote.

STAY · EOLO
DAY11

El Calafate

Enjoy the estate: hiking, biking or riding, followed by a slow afternoon.

DAY12

Chilean Patagonia

Private cross-border road transfer to Chilean Patagonia.

Private cross-border road transfer to Chilean Patagonia. Allow the full day, including formalities and any vehicle handover.

The ground team needs to coordinate the crossing, documents, luggage and any vehicle handover. I would allow the full day and confirm arrangements on both sides of the border.

STAY · Awasi Patagonia

DEPARTURE

A CLOSER LOOK

Wine days with room between appointments.

I would tailor the Uco Valley tastings to the group’s interests, with a hosted lunch and time to appreciate the setting. Harvest-related access depends on the winery and the chosen dates.

Near Santiago, Maipo and Casablanca provide two different wine-country days. A private driver lets everyone take part, while geographically sensible appointments keep the day enjoyable.

Twenty days, nineteen nights

A CLOSER LOOK

The stays are part of the journey.

The original shortlist uses Casa de Uco for the vineyard chapter, EOLO near El Calafate, Awasi Patagonia for Torres del Paine and Mandarin Oriental in Santiago. The Buenos Aires hotel remains a choice to make with the group.

Awasi currently describes a guide and 4×4 assigned to each room. I would still confirm the exact villa, inclusions and transfer scope in the quote. EOLO distinguishes estate activities from off-property excursions; private transfers need to be specified.

Travel with a clear plan

A CLOSER LOOK

From vineyard sunshine to Patagonian wind.

I would build the packing list around lodge-based day outings: familiar walking shoes, light layers, a warm layer, a waterproof and windproof shell, a daypack and sun protection. Add relaxed clothes for the evenings.

Regional airline baggage rules and the final activities decide the details. I would discuss equipment with the group before they buy or pack more than they need.

Pack for the peaks and the pours

THE WORK BEHIND THE JOURNEY

The groundwork.

Flights and airports

I would price the international trip into Buenos Aires and home from Santiago, then check each regional flight before fixing the hotel nights. In Buenos Aires, AEP and EZE are different airports; a transfer between them needs a realistic buffer.

What private means

Three comparable rooms or villas, the agreed private guiding and transport, and separately specified boat arrangements belong in the written proposal. A private tasting does not automatically mean exclusive winery access.

Local coordination

I would compare a coordinated ground proposal for Argentina and Chile, checking who handles each transfer, border segment and excursion. A prospective DMC is a planning option, not an existing partnership.

The full cost

Compare rooms, taxes, meals, drinks, guides, transfers, park entry and cancellation terms together. I would use dated supplier quotes rather than a general exchange-rate savings claim.

Sources, trip assumptions & artwork

The day order follows the existing twenty-day campaign proposal. Official lodge references support the planning discussion; all services require confirmation for the final dates. Artwork is an illustrated interpretation, not hotel photography.

YOUR VERSION OF THE JOURNEY
